Atheist delivers invocation in Ga. county

30.07.09, TIMES ON THE INTERNET (US). An atheist Georgia resident gave the invocation at this week's Cobb County board of commissioners meeting. Edward Buckner of Smyrna, president of American Atheists, told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution his invocation Wednesday night was "actually a protest against invocations." He lost a legal challenge last year, when he argued the U.S. Constitution allows only non-sectarian prayers at government meetings.
